At Treasures of Bali, we are excited and proud to bring you an array of beautiful Indonesian batik sarongs.  Indonesian batik artisans are well known throughout the world as the best batikers.

What is batik . . . . you ask?  Batik is an amazing and ancient method of color dyeing.  It is the process of adding wax to areas of the fabric before it is dyed allowing only parts of the fabric to absorb the dye.  The batik process of waxing and dyeing repeats itself.  The wax can be removed and re-applied several times to make beautiful and intricate designs.  (See batik video.)  The slight differences that you find in the design and color are proof that our sarongs are not machine dyed.

The fabric that we use to make our sarongs is viscose.  This is a kind of rayon that drapes and swings beautifully.  It is softer than cotton and more springy than silk . . . . a very comfortable fabric to wear.

And . . . . there are so many uses for sarongs!  Of course, they can be used as a bathing suit cover-up . . . . but try them as a skirt, a dress, or a shawl on cooler days.  Many people use them as table covers, baby slings, beach mats, or wall hangings.  The uses are endless . . . . so be creative and have fun with one (or more) of our sarongs!
